| Description: | Under the general supervision of the Distribution Superintendent, performs supervisory work in electric meter installation, reading, maintenance and customer service requests. |
| Duties: | Interfaces with the customer and engineers new metering installations, supervising the installation, programming, maintenance and calibration of electric meters.
Supervises all meter reading including AMR installation and accuracy.
Tests and calibrates both business and residential meters.
Performs energy audits on business and residential accounts.
Engineers and implements new demand side management programs.
Maintains and repairs electronic and communication equipment.
Supervises service work and interfaces with the billing department in connects, disconnects and cut-off lists.
Supervises locating of underground power activities and keeps accurate records and maps.
Assists customers with questions, complaints and problems regarding metering and power supply quality issues.
Prepares specifications for the purchase of meters, AMR equipment etc., that are required for all power system revenue metering.
Calculates and estimates bills from damaged meters; monitors and investigates theft of power situations.
Other duties as assigned. |
| Qualifications: | Must be a high school graduate.
Must have a Journey Meter Certificate from an accredited metering apprenticeship program.
Should have experience in computer programming and related electronics through schooling and/or equivalent on the job training.
Must possess a valid Utah Driver License.
Must have a knowledge of electrical principles, as well as knowledge of metering theory, equipment, applications and safety.
Must have the ability to explain technical information in a simple way to customers. Must have good communication and arbitration skills.
Must have skills in high voltage and electrical safety.
Must have knowledge of electronic trouble shooting and repair.
Must have the ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and service information.
Must have the ability to use and interpret the information from a locator.
Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
